Free maths mentoring, one-on-one, with someone who believes in you
You don’t need to be good at maths — that’s the point. It’s free, it runs online, and there are no marks you have to meet.
What the program offers
- Up to 18 hours of free one-on-one maths mentoring
- An opportunity to learn from passionate and dedicated maths experts
- Sessions online, about one to two hours a week, at a time that suits you both
What we ask of you
- A willingness to give it a go — you don’t need to be top of the class
- A commitment to attend all arranged sessions
- Proof of financial need or hardship (for example ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance, or a Health Care Card). If a partner organisation referred you, they may have already taken care of this
What you need to do
Complete this online form. That’s it! We’ll then get in touch with you to discuss next steps. Academic achievement is not a selection criterion. If you’re under 18, we’ll ask a parent or carer to be involved as well. And if Western Chances, Harding Miller or Skyline suggested you get in touch, do say so on the form — you’re in the right place.
We’ll call you
We will schedule a time to speak on the phone to discuss availability as well to establish an appropriate mathematical starting point for the first mentoring session.
You’ll meet your mentor
At the first session an Institute team member will join you online and introduce you to your mentor. At the end of the session we will follow up to confirm the arrangement going forward.
We stay alongside you
Throughout the term of engagement we will be available to both you and your mentor to assist in any way we can.
Upon completion
- We will discuss with you and your mentor your experiences and thoughts on the progress achieved
- If both you and your mentor are in agreement your place will be rolled into the next term
